Using AI to Create Educational Materials: How to Maintain a Human Approach

Educational materials have become unthoughtful with the help of artificial intelligence. This allows you to quickly get texts, quizzes, and presentations. But because such materials are unnatural, and can be hard to perceive by students, they very often sound unnatural. How do we make the AI text more human and readable? Let’s figure it out together.

The benefits of using AI for educational purposes

The daily practice of teachers and students increasingly includes artificial intelligence. That isn’t surprising at all, since AI provides many new opportunities.

Time saving is the most obvious advantage. Lesson plans can be made, tests can be created, or a summary on the complex topic can be generated in minutes using neural networks.

Personalizing learning is also facilitated by AI. It can formulate assignments to the level of knowledge of a particular student, and hence offer simpler formulation as well as a suitable pace.

AI services are good at coming up with ideas. If I do not know how to explain the topic any other way, what should I write about, what am I doing? You ask for something and get a list of dozens of options. In this case, such tools are assistants; they supplement the teacher, not replace him. The key is to use them properly and also introduce some ‘human touch’.

Transforming AI Content: from machine to human language

A person typing on a laptop with tools like a smartphone and pen holder around, illustrating the transformation of AI-generated text into human-like language. Many online services help transform AI-generated texts into more natural ones. These tools become especially useful when you humanize AI text created using ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok, making it more natural and harder to detect by any AI detection converter.

Advantages of using such tools:

  • Turn text into a more realistic format for the reader to understand.
  • Reduce the possibility of AI-generated content being caught.
  • Save time on editing and adapting materials.

However, one should use it only because it is important to still check and finalize the text manually, even after using such solutions. This takes into account the learning objectives and who your audience is.

Why is it important to “humanize” AI texts?

Teacher and student collaborating on a laptop in a classroom setting, emphasizing the need to humanize AI-generated educational texts for engagement and understanding.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used today by teachers and students alike to be able to create educational materials. Fast, seems like an effective solution, and convenient. However, most of such texts become very formal or sometimes even soulless. Judging by their grammar, they could be grammatically correct, but they don’t draw the reader’s attention. Why is this happening?

As AI does not know how to feel and many of its texts lack emotion, intonation, and live communication, it’s quite easy to miss the point of this trolling. These materials are dry, monotonous, and formulaic, even boring. As for me, it is especially noticeable in an educational environment where it is important not only to convey the information, but to interest the student and occupy their attention.

These are the problems you may encounter when working with “raw” AI text:

  • It sounds the same regardless of the theme.
  • It lacks a personal approach and human warmth. These are problems that can hinder Building Bridges, Not Barriers: Creating Inclusive Gimkit Games by Avoiding Bias.
  • It can be difficult to understand, especially for younger students.

It helps to bring the material in human shape and make the text vivid, easy to perceive, and emotionally attractive. There is a learning that is not only made understandable but also enjoyable.

Practical tips for “humanizing” AI texts

A young man focused on humanizing AI writing while working on his laptop in a cozy setting, emphasizing practical tips for creating more engaging, conversational text.

Do you want your AI text to be read with interest, and not “diagonally”? Then don’t rely on technology alone – add a little human involvement. There are simple techniques that dramatically change the perception of the material.

  1. Write as if you are explaining the topic to your student personally. Imagine that he is sitting in front of you. Use a conversational style, simple words, and natural phrases. This creates the effect of live communication and immediately reduces the distance.
  2. Use some examples, comparisons, or short stories. Analogies make complex topics understandable. The student can visualize the working of the theory in life and remember it more easily!
  3. The best thing that you can do is to add questions to the text. One as simple as, “What do you think?” It can immediately pick the reader’s discussion. This element gives that feeling of live communication, it helps to keep attention, better, than common knowledge tests.
  4. Avoid long and confusing constructions. The simpler the sentence, the higher the chance that it will be understood and remembered.

Try to apply at least one of these tips, and you will see how your materials will become lively, understandable, and useful.

How else can I simplify working with AI texts?

Young man thinking deeply while reviewing AI-generated text on a laptop, illustrating the process of simplifying and editing AI texts for better readability and audience engagement.

AI can be easy to work with, but not convenient. Having generated the text, there are so many questions left to answer: how do we make it interesting, how do we make it lead to a specific audience, has it been machine-made or not? The good thing is, it can be made simpler in numerous ways.

You can use extra tools online at first. The services are grouped: some take care of simplifying complex formulations, some ensure style is good and readability is okay. This is particularly useful if you are creating materials for more or less advanced learners.

Secondly, you can create your template for such editing of your AI text. It is certainly a list of five to six steps: removing repetitions, adding concrete examples, breaking up long sentences, asking a question at the end of some paragraphs, and so on. This way, the texts will be livelier and the time spent will be saved.

Finally, connect your colleagues. For instance, as well as being a student resource, Studybay creates opportunities for teachers to acquire additional support, ideas, and a new angle to some of their more experienced tasks. Share experiences, find solutions through the use of communities and platforms.

The better the result, the simpler and more aware you are when interacting with AI texts.

Conclusion

A modern teacher can leverage AI to a powerful effect in their arsenal… complementing tools like Gimkit in the classroom. The downside is that it is important not to overlook the fact that learning should be complemented by, and not replaced by, technology. For example, you can use tools for humanizing your AI text and apply simple tips so that your texts not only educate, but also entertain your students.

Imagination, interaction, and understanding are the leading things when learning. No matter how advanced the technologies become, they will not discount human warmth and empathy.
